What’s going on???

The students are involved in many different activities all day long.  In Mr. Diaz’s class, the kids get to relieve some stress by playing volleyball and football, no tackling of course.

In Mr. Dominguez’s, class the students spend some time learning about our history with discussions focused on the War of Independence.

In Mrs. Harrison’s class, they get to tap into their creative side by putting together a book of idioms.

Mrs. Rosario is getting them to think about the future and their interests by having them work on career clusters.

Mrs. Isaacs is getting those intellectual juices flowing by having them read Touching Spirit Bear, which is a book about an extreme Alaskan adventure and the Native American Circle Justice System.  It’s the perfect time to be reading this book since the movie “Into the Wild” will be coming out in theaters this month.  The movie is based on the true story of Christopher McCandless and his fatal Alaskan odyssey.

Mrs. Schaefer teaches Art, but she always finds a way of integrating the other subjects into her lessons.  This month Mrs. Schaefer’s classes will be studying the Aboriginal natives of Australia by creating crayon, oil pastel, and color pencil paintings focusing on the indigenous animals, ancestral beings, and sacred journeys.  The students will also learn about the Native Americans through the paintings of George Catlin, and use Venn Diagrams to compare and contrast the two cultures.

Mr. Hamdan is keeping their minds on Science by discussing plate tectonics, weathering, and erosion.  It’s a great time to learn about the weather considering the possibility of hurricanes and tropical storms.

Ms. Aguirrechu’s classes are working on a number line project.  The kids pick a theme they are interested in and create a timeline of events that have happened before and after their date of birth.  As you can tell, students are being challenged intellectually and creatively in all their classes throughout the day.
