BLUE CRUSH

Nicole Kramer was selected as the Blue Crush Student of the Month.  Maria was chosen because she is hard working, dedicated, motivated,
and an inspiration to her teachers and peers.  Congratulations!

In November, the Blue Crush classes focused on making comparisons.  This concept is not only an FCAT benchmark, but it has many real-world applications.  Across all academic disciplines the skill of comparing can help us understand ideas more thoroughly.  In math we compare positive and negative numbers; in language arts we compare writing styles; in science we compare the surface and texture of various rocks; in social studies we compare the political parties and their goals; in the fine arts we can compare works of visual or performance art; in the world of technology we compare operating systems; and the list goes on!

While it is important to prepare for the FCAT, our most important goal is to ensure that students are ready for the many opportunities that lie on the road ahead.  We believe that concentrating on the skills that promote critical thinking will propel students toward their brilliant futures no matter what endeavors they choose.

As a final note, Mr. Nardone’s classes are preparing for the production of Tom Sawyer.  Performances will be held on December 17th and 18th.  Please contact the school office for more information.  We hope to see you there!
